Kufri is a scenic and idyllic hill station nestled in the lap of the Himalayan range, less than 20km from Shimla. Kufri gets its name from the word ‘Kufr’ which means lake in the local language. Best Time to Visit Kufri

Kufri enjoys a wonderfully calm climate through the year, except for the severely cold winters. The ideal season to visit is during the summers (from April to June) when the temperature is pleasant and stays between 12 to 19°C. The next best season to visit Kufri is during the monsoons as the region receives very scanty rainfall and the temperature sometimes drops to 10°C.

Weather Of Kufri

Being a hill station, Kufri experiences typical mountain climate with pleasant summers and harshly cold winters. Summer in this region is short (April and May) with average temperature ranging from 12 °C to 19°C. The rainy season lasts from July to October with very light, scanty rains. During this time the temperature has been known to drop to around 10°C. The winters here are quite extreme with an average temperature of around 17° to -3°Celsius. There have been times when the temperature dropped to -10°C. Kufri witnesses heavy snowfall in December and January.

How to Reach Kufri?

By Air : Nearest airport is Shimla Airport located in Jubbarhatti which is 35 km from Kufri.

By Rail : The Shimla railway station is around 13km away from Kufri. Cabs and buses are available from there to the city. The Shimla railway station is not well-connected to the rest of the country. A train to Chandigarh or Ambala station is more convenient and one can again take a cab or bus or even the toy train to then reach Shimla or Kufri from there.

By Road : There are well-maintained roads that connect Kufri to the neighbouring towns and major cities of India such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Manali. Private as well as state-owned buses operate between Shimla and Kufri and also connect it to Narkanda, and Rampur.
