By Air : NSC Bose International Airport, Kolkata is the nearest airport which is about 210 km away from Digha.

By Rail : There are direct trains from Kolkata to Digha or one can take a train to nearby Kharagpur, a major rail junction with several trains to and from Kolkata.

By Road : There are several bus services that run frequently to Digha from Kolkata. Buses leave daily, every half an hour, from the Shahid Minar and Howrah Bus Terminus in Central Kolkata. If driving by car, drive on NH 6 till Kolaghat and then take NH 41 to Digha. It approximately takes about five hours to reach Digha from Kolkata by road.

Best Time to Visit Digha

The winter months from November to March are a good time as summers from April to June can get hot and humid. October to March are the best time for beach activities like sailing, swimming, diving and surfing and during these months hotels are mostly booked. So before you plan a visit be sure to make bookings in advance.

You can take a walk along the beach or just laze around in the months between September and February; days are clear and bright whereas evenings are pleasant. Avoid the rainy season from July to August.

Situated at a distance of 8 kms from Digha is Chandaneswar that is well-known for the century old Lord Shiva Temple. During Maha Vishuva Sankranti, which is held in April, millions of devotees visit this temple to worship Lord Shiva.

Take a trip to the nearby virgin beach of Shankarpur, which is 14 kms away from Digha. Nestled away from the hustle bustle of the city life, Shankarpur is also called the twin beach of Digha. If you visit the beach in the morning, you will see fishermen juggling with their net for a big catch. You may like to capture some moments in your camera.
